A google drive add-on to lock your documents
Lock your documents in google drive when real-time collaboration is not possible, e.g. MS Word, Excel.
For documents where real-time collaboration might not be feasible, for example MS Word and Powerpoint, we find multiple people on our team might be downloading the same assets for editing offline. However, when users download the asset at the same time, this causes edit conflicts.
We use google drive api functionality that allows a user to ‘lock’ a file temporarily, flagging to other teammates that the document is being edited offline. When the document is unlocked it is a signal that the document is free to edit.
